How to clean Gaggia Classic Coffee Maker?
These coffee makers are very easy to maintain and clean. For the outer coating use a clean damp cloth. The silver parts of the machine can be polished with a gentle window cleaner product and soft cloth.
For the inner parts, you'll need to backflush your machine. Use Cafiza, the regular coffee machine cleaner, the blind filter for your portafilter and a cleaning brush. Activate brew cycle without the portafilter on, just brush the top filter off of the coffee ground.
Insert the blind filter into your portafilter, add one spoon of Cafiza and run a brew cycle through. Once you backflushed with Cafiza, take the portafilter off, clean out the Cafiza water and run a brew cycle without any liquids in the blind filter.
The backflushing is done, clean the brew head with a brush and you're ready to brew again. You should clean your coffee machine as often as possible. If you're using the machine daily, backflush it every evening.
For the steamer, use a special chemical again and let the steamer soak in it for 10 minutes. Or simply use boiling water. Always make sure there's no excess milk from the inside of the steamer.
