The best entry into pour over coffee with the Hario V60-02 Dripper
The Hario V60-02 Dripper is a cult item, and for good reason. This simple, yet beautifully designed piece of kit is the perfect entry point into the world of pour over coffee. It is affordable, but comes with the same functionality as other, higher-end products.
But, what is it about this dripper that makes it so popular? The stream-lined design has a lot to do with it. Ridges swirl around the inner part of the cone which are specially designed to allow free air-flow and retain heat. The grooves facilitate a more even brew. In return, this genius design brews the crispest cup of coffee possible. It is Hario’s attention to detail which sets them apart from the rest.
You can grab some filters from us to go with this dripper. Just make sure that you wet the paper evenly with hot water before you add the coffee grinds. This makes sure that the taste of the filter paper doesn’t permeate through to your coffee. Then, simply enjoy a cup of aromatic, flavourful coffee and take your brewing experience to another level.
* Made from acrylonitrile-styrene resin - great thermal resistance
* Size 02 dripper, Hario’s medium size
* Brews around 500ml or 2 cups of fully extracted coffee
* Dishwasher OK
Why is the dripper in a cone shape?
Having the filter in this shape adds a depth of flavour to the coffee. As the water flows to the centre, it spends a longer amount of time in contact with the ground coffee, therefore intensifying the flavour profiles.
What’s the best way to use the Hario V60 dripper?
We recommend you grind 18g of freshly roasted coffee beans on a medium to fine setting. Then, rinse the filter paper with hot water and pour the coffee ground in. Start the timer and pour 50g of water into the dripper in a circular motion. Stir gently to make sure all the grounds are set. At 35 seconds, pour in more water in concentric circles until the total weight of water is 170-180g. Then, at 1 minute 5 seconds, pour in the final amount of water to take it up to 300g. Finally, allow the coffee to filter through.
