Your grinder is dialled. Your puck prep is a ritual. And then the water just… splashes down however the shower screen feels like. Not anymore. The IMS Laser Brew shower screen is the first IMS screen perforated by laser, so every hole sits exactly where it was designed to sit, at exactly the size it was meant to be.

Designed by light, made in Italy

IMS have been shaping stainless steel for coffee since 1946 in Torre d'Isola, Italy. With Laser Brew they swap mechanical tooling for a focused laser beam, which gives a level of accuracy in hole position and diameter that punching simply can't hit. The result: water that arrives evenly over the whole puck, shot after shot. Very satisfying for those of us who like our light roasts clear and sparkly.

Why we're nerding out about it

  • 300 µm laser perforation for precise, repeatable water distribution over the coffee bed.
  • Nanotech coating on every screen, helping to reduce coffee residue and making cleaning easier.
  • Completely smooth surface, with fewer spots for coffee oils to hang around.
  • E61 bonus: according to IMS, the E61 Laser Brew screen can be mounted and removed without taking the gasket out. Small detail, big workflow win.
  • Integrated screw version (E61 & La Marzocco): the screw is laser-welded straight into the screen for a fully smooth face, easier installation and removal and extra mechanical precision.

Pick your group head

  • E61 (E61300LB/NT, integrated screw E61300LB/VS/NT): body Ø 56.5 mm, border Ø 60 mm.
  • La Marzocco (MA300LB/NT, integrated screw MA300LB/VS/NT): Ø 56.4 mm, 7 mm central hole. IMS lists La Marzocco, Synesso and Slayer.
  • Breville / Sage (BV300LB/NT): Ø 53 mm outer / 52 mm inner, 9 mm wall, 7.2 mm central hole. IMS lists Breville/Sage and Solis.
  • De'Longhi (DL300LB/NT): Ø 50.5 mm outer / 49.5 mm inner, 9 mm wall, 5.3 mm central hole.
  • Gaggia (GA300LB/NT): Ø 55 mm, M5 central hole.
  • Cimbali (CI300LB/NT): Ø 51.5 mm, M5 central hole. IMS lists La Cimbali, Astoria, Elektra and Breville/Sage The Oracle.

Not sure which one fits your machine? Measure your old screen or drop us a line. We're happy to geek out with you about it.

Laser-perforated face of an IMS Laser Brew shower screen

Precision you can (almost) see

01 · Designed by light

Every hole in a Laser Brew screen is cut by a focused laser instead of being stamped. IMS says this gives a level of accuracy in hole position and diameter that hasn't been possible before. Each screen has 300 µm laser perforation, held to spec and repeated screen after screen.

Even water, before it ever touches the puck

02 · Water distribution

Your shower screen decides how evenly water lands on the coffee. IMS designed Laser Brew so water moves evenly through the bed and into the cup, for more consistency and control. If you love light roasts as much as we do, that means more clarity in the cup.

Less gunk, easier cleaning

03 · Nanotech coated

Every Laser Brew screen has IMS's Nanotech coating, which helps reduce coffee residue so cleaning is easier. The surface is completely smooth, so coffee oils have fewer places to collect.

04 · Integrated screw (E61 & La Marzocco)

On the integrated-screw versions, IMS laser-welds the screw directly into the screen. You get a fully smooth face, easier installation and removal, and extra mechanical precision.

05 · E61 workflow

Good news for E61 owners: according to IMS, the Laser Brew E61 screen can be mounted and removed without taking out the group gasket. Small detail, big difference when you upgrade or deep-clean.

FAQ

Regular precision screens are photo-etched or mechanically perforated. Laser Brew holes are cut by a focused laser, which IMS says gives a new level of accuracy in both hole position and diameter, for more uniform water distribution over the puck.

Pick by group head: E61, La Marzocco (also Synesso and Slayer according to IMS), Breville/Sage (and Solis), De'Longhi, Gaggia or Cimbali. Compare the diameter of your current screen with the dimensions listed for each version. If you're unsure, send us your machine model and we'll check.

It's the filtering size of the perforation. The '300' in the IMS code (e.g. E61300LB) refers to 300 micron passage.

On the VS versions for E61 and La Marzocco, the screw is laser-welded directly into the screen. That gives you a completely smooth surface, easier installation and removal, and better mechanical precision.

The Nanotech coating helps reduce coffee residue so cleaning is easier. Backflush and wipe the screen regularly.
