The Mahlkönig Xenia Brew-by-Sync is the first home espresso machine from the German grinder specialist – a compact dual boiler with a scale built into the cup tray. You set the target weight, Xenia weighs the espresso in your cup and stops the shot when it gets there. No separate scale on the drip tray, no hovering over the button.
Most machines measure the water going in. Xenia measures the espresso coming out. The integrated scale stops each extraction at your target weight, and the display shows extraction time, beverage weight and flow rate live while the shot runs. That makes it far easier to see what changed when a shot tastes different – and to repeat the one you liked.
Separate stainless steel boilers for brewing (0.3 L) and steam (1.2 L) mean you can pull a shot and steam milk at the same time. Three PID controllers manage the temperature across the brewing system, including the brew group, for stable, consistent extractions from the first cup to the last.
Pair Xenia with a compatible Mahlkönig Home Grind-by-Sync grinder such as the E64 WS, and both work towards the same recipe. Steam power is set through boiler pressure rather than temperature, so you can dial in a gentle stream for a single flat white or more punch for larger jugs, with fast recovery between drinks. The cold-touch steam wand has a four-hole tip and stays comfortable to hold, and a separate outlet gives you hot water for tea or an americano.
With the Mahlkönig Sync app and web interface you can fine-tune temperatures, steam pressure and button settings, and set start-up times for each weekday so the machine is warm when you walk into the kitchen. EcoMode and Auto-Off save energy when you are not brewing. The 2 litre tank slides in from the left or the right, and elevated feet make it easy to clean underneath.

No. Xenia has a scale built into the cup tray that weighs the espresso directly in the cup and stops the shot at your target weight. Out of the box the single and double buttons are set to 18 g and 36 g, and you can change both in the app or web interface.
Brew-by-Sync works with compatible Mahlkönig Home Grind-by-Sync grinders such as the E64 WS. Once both are on the same Wi-Fi, the grinder can adjust its grind size from Xenia's shot data. You can also use any good espresso grinder – the scale and live data still work.
Yes. Xenia has separate brew and steam boilers, so you can pull a shot and steam milk simultaneously, with steam power set through boiler pressure.
Xenia uses a vibration pump, controlled by the machine's electronics alongside the scale and triple PID.
Set individual start-up times for each weekday in the Sync app or web interface. EcoMode keeps both boilers at a lower temperature after 20 minutes without use so they reheat faster, and Auto-Off switches the machine off after 60 minutes by default.
